Pre-employment Transition Servies
At We Care Support, we are dedicated to empowering students with disabilities to achieve their future goals. In collaboration with Vocational Rehabilitation (VR), we provide comprehensive Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) designed to prepare youth for success in post-secondary education and the workforce.
Serving families across Orlando, Palm Beach Gardens, and West Palm Beach, our programs help students bridge the gap between school and adult life through hands-on learning, counseling, and skill-building.
What are Pre-Employment Transition Services?
Pre-ETS services are designed for students with disabilities (typically ages 14-21) who are eligible or potentially eligible for Vocational Rehabilitation services. We focus on five core areas to ensure students are ready for the real world:
1. Job Exploration Counseling
We help students discover their passions and how they translate into careers.
- Career Planning: Assessing interests, skills, and values.
- Labor Market Information: Reviewing current job trends and demand in Florida.
- Exploration: Investigating different jobs and career paths within the local community.
2. Work-Based Learning Experiences
Nothing teaches better than experience. We connect students with opportunities to see careers in action.
- Job Shadowing: Observing professionals in real-world work environments.
- Mock Interviews: Practicing interview techniques to build confidence.
- Industry Connections: Linking students to career-tech programs and identifying local businesses for potential work experience.
3. Counseling for Post-Secondary Education
We guide students through the complex options available after high school.
- Higher Education Info: Providing details on colleges, universities, and technical schools.
- Disability Access: connecting students with university Disability Access offices to ensure they get needed support.
- Accommodations: discussing strategies and accommodations for success in academic or training settings.
4. Workplace Readiness Training
We teach the “soft skills” and practical knowledge required to keep a job.
- Employability Skills: Communication, teamwork, and professional behavior.
- Resource Connection: Connecting students with local career centers.
- Independent Living: Identifying social and life skills necessary for workplace independence.
5. Self-Advocacy Training
We empower students to speak up for themselves and their needs.
- Self-Determination: Counseling students and families on the power of making their own choices.
- IEP/504 Leadership: Teaching students how to effectively lead or participate in their own educational planning meetings.
- Rights & Responsibilities: Understanding how to advocate for accommodations in the workplace and community.
