Educational Consultant Disability Advocate
- Full service, expert special education, IEP and 504 advocacy for students with disabilities in the State of Florida
- Comprehensive, confidential review of educational records
- Securing special education eligibility for students
- Psycho-educational testing review
- Home and school student observations as required
- Securing an appropriate educational plan for the student
- Assessment and development of meaningful, measurable IEP goals
- Creation of systems for parental monitoring of both child progress and IEP implementation
- Letter writing, setting meeting agendas and preparing parents to participate in school meetings.
- Attendance at IEP, 504, eligibility and all other school meetings
- Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) Development and Review
- Manifestation Determination Meetings
- RTI/problem solving review and analysis
- Assisting parents with the dispute resolution system including Mediation and Due Process
- Preparation and filing of complaints with the Florida State Board of Education and the Office of Civil Rights
- Provide referrals to outside resources such as legal services, independent evaluations, therapists and family support
- Individual parent coaching and training on the IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, Early Intervention Services, navigating the special education system, understanding procedural safeguards and advocating for the needs of your student with a disability
- Presentations and workshops on a myriad of special education topics
